# Connect Meta

Connect your Facebook login, then choose the ad accounts Adalysis manages

Linking takes two steps:

1. You **connect a Meta login** to your Adalysis account. This is the Facebook login that has access to your ad accounts in Business Manager.
2. You **link the ad accounts** you want to manage from that login.

You can connect as many Meta logins as you need, for example one per client's Business Manager.

## Step 1: Connect a Meta login

![Adalysis account Overview, Connect a login card](https://3203600314-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGlXujWJyreRidNjZDCw2%2Fuploads%2FX9LPxFa9l787MuEYAWdw%2FCN-01.png?alt=media)

Facebook opens: sign in with the Facebook login that manages your ad accounts, and allow the permissions Adalysis asks for. You're then taken back to your Adalysis account.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Use a login that can manage your ad accounts.** Adalysis reads every account you link, but it can change budgets and turn campaigns, ad sets and ads on or off only through a login with permission to manage them. With a view-only login, the budget automations and **Turn on** / **Turn off** aren't available.
{% endhint %}

### If you see "Meta was not connected"

Meta didn't give Adalysis access, usually because the permissions were declined or the login can't manage any ad accounts. Nothing has changed in your Adalysis account. Check that the Facebook login you choose can manage the ad accounts, then click **Connect a Meta account** again.

## Step 2: Link your ad accounts

![Meta Overview, link icon](https://3203600314-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGlXujWJyreRidNjZDCw2%2Fuploads%2FBp3mWMN1ws4pJsj3DnDy%2FCN-02.png?alt=media)

Finding a login's ad accounts usually takes a few seconds. While the import runs, you can click **Run in background** and keep working.

When the import has finished, a message confirms it. Click **Link more** to add more ad accounts, or **Done**.

### What you see in the account list

| Tag                        | Meaning                                                                                                                                      |
| -------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Already linked** | The ad account is already in your Adalysis account. |
| **Linked by another user** | Another Adalysis user has linked this ad account. An ad account can be linked by one user and their team. Ask them to add you to their team. |

If the login has no ad accounts Adalysis can read, ask your Business Manager admin to give that Facebook user access to the ad accounts, or pick another login.

## When your data appears

| What                                                             | When                                   |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------- |
| Your ad accounts, with this month's spend, campaigns and ad sets | Within a few minutes of the import |
| Budget pacing for this month | Straight away, from this month's spend |
| Your ads (**Performance** > **Ads**), with 90 days of history | After the first nightly update |
| Health checks, performance alerts and rules | After the first nightly update |

The nightly update runs at 05:00 in each ad account's timezone. See [How Adalysis works with Meta data](/meta-facebook/getting-started-with-meta/how-adalysis-works-with-meta-data.md).

## Unlink ad accounts

![Unlink confirmation](https://3203600314-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FGlXujWJyreRidNjZDCw2%2Fuploads%2FaKenfEDepwcTBBGnRguK%2FCN-05.png?alt=media)

This removes the ad accounts from Adalysis only. Nothing changes in your Meta ad accounts. You can link them again at any time.

## Reconnect a login

Meta logins can expire, for example when the Facebook password changes or the permission is removed. When that happens, the ad accounts stop updating, a banner appears at the top of the Meta screens, and you get an email.

To renew it, click **Reconnect** next to the Meta login in your Adalysis account, and sign in to Facebook again with the same login.

## Give your team access

Team members, their roles and which ad accounts they can open are managed in your Adalysis account. See [Your account structure](/onboarding/getting-started/core-account-settings/your-account-structure.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.adalysis.com/meta-facebook/getting-started-with-meta/connect-meta.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
