Automatic pausing of losing ads

Auto-pause loser ads for faster optimization

Last updated 2 months ago

With Adalysis, you can automatically pause loser ads in single ad group testing.

If you enable auto-pause for an ad group, Adalysis will monitor the automated daily single ad group tests. If we detect a test result that meets your conditions, we'll pause the loser ad. Auto-pause can be set for each ad group separately.

How to enable auto-pause

You can find the Auto pause settings under Ad testing > Single ad group > Text ads.

Select the ad groups you want to update and click Loser ad auto pause settings. Then, choose Enable or Disable, as needed.

  • By default, we'll notify you when a loser ad is paused. You can opt out by selecting the checkbox.

  • You can also specify minimum performance criteria a loser ad must meet before it's eligible for auto-pause.

  • In Advanced settings, you can define the level of statistical significance for valid test results. You can also define a minimum date range for the test. Please note: these settings are separate from your test thresholds, which control when to generate a test result. Auto-pause settings apply to generated test results.

  • Choose a metric for auto-paused ads. For example, if you select CTR, auto-pause will run only for test results that have a loser in the CTR metric. Please note: If you don't choose a metric, a loser ad will be paused if it loses in one metric without also winning in a different one.

  • Select the minimum number of active ads you want to keep running after the loser ad is paused. If the minimum is reached, auto-pause won't run even if it's enabled. For example, Adalysis can ensure there are always at least two active ads.

Once you've enabled auto-pause, you can edit the settings for single or multiple ad groups. Select Modify settings in the Loser ad auto-pause settings menu to make changes in bulk.

How to find archived test results

Every time a loser ad is paused (manually or automatically), a copy of the test result will be saved in Archived test results together with the date. Please also see the column Loser ad paused automatically, where you can click any archived date for details.
