Connect Looker Studio to Google Ads and automate your reporting with Adalysis
Last updated
Before you can automate your reporting with Adalysis, you'll need to connect Looker Studio to Google Ads. This guide shows you how to get started and set up a range of data sources.
Visit the page and click Use it for free.
Looker Studio retrieves your data directly from Google Ads, not Adalysis. It uses a data source to connect to a Google Ads account or MCC.
To use the Adalysis report templates, you'll need to first create your data sources (one for each account or MCC). This is a one-time step, but you can use each data source in multiple reports.
Getting started
Go to the Data Source screen and click Create.
Permissions
Choose Google Ads and grant Looker Studio access to your Google Ads account when prompted.
Setup
Choose an account from the list and click Connect. The next section will help you decide whether to connect an individual or a manager account.
There are two types of data source for Google Ads: one for individual accounts and one for MCCs. Adalysis supports both types and we would recommend the following setup.
This data source is for reports with data from a single Google Ads account.
In this example, we should set up one data source for the Alpha Account account, one for the Beta Account, and so on.
Once created, you can rename the data source to make it easier to identify in the future:
Looker Studio can provide MCC-level reports covering multiple accounts, but it can only show cost-related data (e.g. CPC, conv. value) if all the accounts in the MCC use the same currency.
You have three choices:
Set up a single-currency MCC data source if all accounts in this data source use the same currency. This report type supports cost-related data.
Set up a single-currency data source for each currency you have in your MMC. This report type supports cost-related data.
Set up a multi-currency MCC data source if the accounts in this data source use a range of currencies. This report type doesn't support cost-related data.
